UM, SO JUST TO GIVE SOME QUICK BACKGROUNDS, UH, STEVEN, YOU PROBABLY KNOW THE TIMELINE BETTER THAN I DO, BUT IT WAS PROBABLY, UH, CLOSE TO TWO YEARS AGO. THE TOWN AND THE COUNTY JOINTLY WENT OUT FOR RFP, UH, FOR A THIRD PARTY PROVIDER TO COME IN AND FACILITATE, AS I SAID, SORT OF ALL THINGS TOWARDS THEM. UM, WE WERE SELECTED, MY FRIEND WAS SELECTED IN THAT PROCESS AND WE CAME ON BOARD IN JANUARY OF 21. UM, SO WE'VE BEEN FOCUSED IN SORT OF FOUR CORE AREAS. UH, THE FIRST IS FORMING A DESTINATION MARKETING ORGANIZATION THAT ORGANIZATION WILL STAND ALONE OUT FROM, UH, DOWN IN COUNTY, SIMILAR TO HOW I SORT OF CHAMBER FUNCTIONS OR ANOTHER NONPROFIT WHERE, UM, THE, THE ENTITY WILL HAVE A MISSION. AND THAT MISSION IS TO REALLY PROMOTE JOINTLY THE DESTINATION THAT IS FRONT RURAL IN WARREN COUNTY, UH, AND REALLY DRIVE VISITATION INTO THE AREA THROUGH MARKETING EFFORTS TO POSITIVELY IMPACT THE ECONOMY AND COMMUNITY THROUGH VISITOR SPENDING. WE'VE BEEN FOCUSED ON AT FORMING THE ENTITY. UH, WE HAVE, UM, WORKED ON BYLAWS ARTICLES OF INCORPORATION POTENTIAL BOARD MEMBERS TO COME ON BOARD. THERE'S BEEN A LOT OF DISCUSSION OVER THE LAST COUPLE OF MONTHS RELATED TO HOW THIS ENTITY WILL BE FORMED, WHAT ITS FUNCTIONS ARE AND MAKING SURE THAT BOTH MUNICIPALITIES ARE ON BOARD WITH THAT EFFORT. SO JUST A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO, I BOTH THE TOWN AND COUNTY, UH, EXECUTED A, UH, AN MOA THAT ALLOWS THEM TO ENTER INTO AGREEMENTS WITH THE STUDENT TO BE FORMED NONPROFIT DISCOVER FRONT ROYAL. AND SO WE'VE, WE NOW HAVE, UH, WE HAD A LIGHT PREVIOUSLY, BUT NOW WE HAVE A GREENER LIGHT, IF YOU WILL, UH, TO GO NEXT STEPS IN THE FORMATION PROCESS. SO THAT DISCOVER FRONT ROYAL ENDS AN ENTITY CAN BE FORMED AND CAN DO ALL OF THOSE IMMEDIATE NEXT STEPS WITH GETTING, UH, THE, UH, THE ORGANIZATION STRUCTURED SO THAT THE ORGANIZATION CAN THEN WORK FOR, AND ON BEHALF OF THE TOWN OF FRONT ROYAL AND WARREN COUNTY JOINTLY FOR ALL THINGS TOWARDS THEM. SO ONE AREA OF FOCUS AND I'LL COME BACK TO THIS AND TAKE QUESTIONS, BUT ONE AREA OF FOCUS IS THAT FORMING OF THE DESTINATION MARKETING ORGANIZATION, WHILE DOING THAT, OF COURSE, WE KNOW THAT WE'RE WHEN WE CAME ON BOARD, WE WERE GETTING READY FOR A SPRING SUMMER AND FALL VISITOR SEASON. SO WE HAD TO MAKE SURE WE WERE PREPARED WITH A NEW MARKETING EFFORTS. SO IN APRIL OF LAST YEAR, WE ROLLED OUT OUR FIRST SET OF NEW MARKETING AND MEDIA CAMPAIGNS THROUGH SOCIAL CHANNELS. SO WE'VE BEEN WORKING ON NEW MARKETING EFFORTS OVER THE LAST YEAR, AND WE'VE STARTED TO SEE A LOT OF GREAT SUCCESS WITH NEW INTEREST DRIVING NEW VISITATION, UM, DO, UH, EFFORTS TO GET PEOPLE ONE TO THE WEBSITE, TO LEARN MORE ABOUT WHAT WE HAVE TO, TO, UH, UH, YOU KNOW, TO OFFER FROM A DESTINATION STANDPOINT, AS WELL AS OBVIOUSLY CONVERTING THOSE POTENTIAL VISITORS TO DO OVERNIGHT GUESTS AND DAY TRIPPERS, UM, INTO THE AREA. SO WE'VE STARTED TRACKING MORE OF, UH, THERE AS WELL AS WANTING TO GET TO A POINT WHERE WE ARE AT ABLE TO TRACK INDIVIDUAL VISITATION. SO WORKING VERY CLOSELY WITH STEPHEN AND TOWN STAFF ON THE, UH, THE PHYSICAL ASSET THAT IS THE VISITOR CENTER, WHICH IS BOUND BY THE TOWN. UH, BUT AS THE CONTRACTOR, IT'S OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO SORT OF MANAGE IF YOU WILL BE DAY-TO-DAY EFFORTS OF, UH, WHAT GOES ON IN THE VISITOR CENTER, INCLUDING THE EXISTING, UH, TOWN PART-TIME STAFF. SO IF YOU, IF YOU'VE HAD A CHANCE TO CHECK OUT THE VISITOR CENTER IN THE LAST COUPLE OF WEEKS, I WE'RE GOING THROUGH A REFRESH. SO WE'VE INSTALLED SOME NEW VISUALS, UH, W IN, IN PHASE, ONE OF THAT REFRESH PHASE TWO IS IN THE WORKS RIGHT NOW. WE HAVE TO HAVE IT INSTALLED THE NEXT COUPLE OF WEEKS. SO THE INTENT THERE IS TO TRANSITION THE VISITOR CENTER, WHICH WAS PREVIOUSLY MUCH MORE SORT OF BROCHURE DRIVEN WHERE PEOPLE WOULD COME IN AND GET BROCHURES AND SORT OF MOVE ON TO THE NEXT STEP. WE'RE. NOW WE WANT TO BECOME MORE OF A CONCIERGE STYLE EXPERIENCE WHERE WE'RE HELPING PEOPLE PLAN THEIR TRIP OR HELPING PEOPLE BOOK THEIR STAYS. UM, JUST YESTERDAY WE BOOKED THREE RESERVATIONS FOR PEOPLE COMING IN FOR NEW HOTEL NIGHTS. SO EVERY DAY WE ARE DOING MORE AND MORE OF THE CONSULTATIVE STYLE OF HELPING PEOPLE FACILITATE THEIR TRAVEL EXPERIENCES, AS WELL AS IMPROVING THE AESTHETIC OF THE VISITOR CENTER, SO THAT IT IS MORE DYNAMIC FROM A VISUAL STANDPOINT, THEY'LL BE MORE TO TOUCH AND FEEL IN THE COMING WEEKS. UM, SO WE'RE EXCITED ABOUT THE REFRESH THAT IS TAKING PLACE THERE. AND FOUR AREAS OF FOCUS HAS BEEN JUST TO STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT AND SORT OF OVERALL, UM, COMMUNITY EDUCATION AS TO, UH, WHAT DISCOVERED FRONT ROYAL IS AND WILL BE, AND WHAT THE INTENT OF NOT JUST THE ORGANIZATION, BUT THE BENEFITS OF GOING DOWN THIS PATH, UH, AND WORKING AS AN ENTITY TO GROW THE TOURISM INDUSTRY AND THE TOURISM ECONOMY, WHICH WILL POSITIVELY IMPACT AT A LOCAL COMMUNITY. SO WE'VE, UH, WE'VE WORKED WITH A LOT OF STAKEHOLDERS OVER THE LAST YEAR, PLUS STARTING TO GET EVERYBODY TO SORT OF UNDERSTAND A LITTLE BIT MORE ABOUT WHAT WE DO, UM, MET RICK, UH, PROBABLY ABOUT A YEAR AND A HALF AGO, AND WENT TO A MEETING JUST LIKE THIS, UH, TO TRY AND, YOU KNOW, START TO GET OUT THERE AS TO WHAT WE'RE UP TO. UH, WE'VE BEEN TRYING TO PUT OUT REGULAR STAKEHOLDER NEWSLETTERS ON A MONTHLY BASIS FOR THE LAST COUPLE OF MONTHS TO KEEP PEOPLE UPDATED ON PROGRESS. NOW THAT WE'RE, WE'RE WORKING ON A LOT OF DIFFERENT FACETS, UM, THINGS LIKE EVENT CALENDARS, AND WHAT'S GOING ON, THINGS THAT THE TOWN ARE WORKING ON THE FESTIVAL OF WEAVES WE'RE, WE'RE PART OF, UH, THAT SORT OF COHORT TO SUPPORT THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE EVENT. SO, YOU KNOW, AS, AS EVERYBODY'S PROBABLY AWARE, THERE'S MARKETING DOLLARS THAT HAVE BEEN DEDICATED TO THIS EFFORT, UH, AND WE GET, UH, WE GET TO THE JOB OF, UH, OF TAKING THE PRETTY PICTURES AND, AND HAVING A REALLY GREAT ASSETS, MEDIA ASSETS TO HELP PROMOTE THE AREA. SO IF YOU'RE WORKING ON, LET'S SAY A PITCH BOOK FOR, UM, FOR A PARTICULAR INDUSTRY OR A PARTICULAR TYPE OF BUSINESS, AND YOU'RE THINKING ABOUT HOW DO WE GET, HOW DO WE SELL THEM ON THIS PLACE TOWARDS THEM? SO THAT'S HOW WE'VE BEEN PART OF, UM, SORT OF SIMILAR EFFORTS IN OTHER DESTINATIONS. UM, AND AS FAR AS REACHING OUT, YOU KNOW, I'M, I'M HAPPY TO PARTICIPATE IN FORMAL MEETINGS LIKE THIS GOING FORWARD.
